Losfer Words' Awakenings CD, was inspired by JRR Tolkien's The Silmarillion. The CD encapsulates pivotal, catalyst events from Tolkien's epic history of Middle Earth in nine instrumental tracks. The music is similar to Losfer Words Midnight Wind and Stygian Odyssey CDs, blending new age with progressive guitar instrumentals, yet, with a more classical and orchestral influence to the arrangement style of the musical compositions.
song concepts:
Overture: This is your gateway into the world of Arda upon the soaring wings of the great eagles. Arda is the elven name for Earth; the world upon which Tolkien's continent of Middle Earth resides.

The Halls of the Valar: the grand palaces of the Valar, the angelic race that guards over all life on Arda. Their greatest hall sits atop the mountain Taniquetil and is a favorite place for the great eagles to gather.

The Shadow of Morgoth: is inspired by the character, Morgoth, in J.R.R. Tolkien's the Silmarillion, brooding, scheming and creating evil in his fortresses of Utumno and Angband, (the Iron Hells). For those who are not familiar with the tale Morgoth is the fallen Valar who led the rebellion against Illuvatar, the Creator, at creation by singing discord into the Creator's theme. Morgoth was the first dark lord of Arda. To get a glimpse into just how dark and evil the mind and malice of Morgoth is, simply keep in mind he is the creator of all the evil and fell creatures of Middle Earth including Balrogs and Dragons.

Awakenings: The God of Tolkien's world is called Illuvatar by the Elves. He created the elves so that their size was equal to men but Elves would stronger in spirit and limb, and would not grow weak with age. They would possess the greatest happiness and the deepest sorrows. They would be immortal and ageless so that they might live as long as the Earth (Arda) to guard over it, never knowing sickness or pestilence, however their bodies would be Earth like in substance and could be destroyed. They could be slain with fire, or steel in war, be murdered, and even die of great grief. Thus the elves were immortal as long as evil did not enter into their lives and destroy them. The elves came to life or "awoke" in Middle Earth at the kindling of the stars by Varda, the Lady of the Stars. For this reason she is the one Valar loved the most by both the elves of Middle Earth and Illuvatar. It is said in Tolkien's tale the elves of Middle Earth still carry the light of her stars in their eyes.

Utunmo and the Iron Hells: During the War of the Valar Morgoth destroyed their kingdom of Almaren and the two great lamps of the Valar which illuminated Middle Earth. The Valar fled into the west to form a new kingdom illuminated by Two Trees. While the light of the western hemisphere was bathed in the light of the Two Trees of the Valar, Middle Earth was plunged into darkness in the east. During this time Morgoth created two fortress strong holds Utumno and Angband the Iron hells. Utumno and Angband were vast domed halls, labyrinthine tunnels ad fathomless dungeons crafted out of black obsidian stone. Utunmo was filled with demons, wraiths, vampires, werewolves, Balgrogs and Dragons, the foul demonic spirits that the fallen Valar had become when they joined in Morgoth's rebellion. Angband was the armory of Morgoth and filled with hordes of orcs and other fell creatures.

Valinor: when the elves awakened under starlight in Middle Earth, they were called to the west by the Valar so that they would be safe from the wrathful vengeance of Morgoth. Valinor is their greatest city in the west and was also know as the city of many bells. Here the elves lived in safety in the glow of the Two Trees.

Gloomweaver: With the aid of Morgoth the great spider Ungoliant destroyed the Trees of Light which the Valar had created to light the undying lands of the west. It was in this blackness Morgoth stole the Silmarilis, the elves' enchanted gems, which held power far greater than the one ring of Sauron. Ungoliant spun a web of black inky darkness to hide their attack and escape , as she and Morgoth made their escape from the wrath of the Valar, and across the grinding ice of Helcaraxe . It is said that not even the all seeing eyes of the most powerful Valar could see through that darkness, and for this reason Ungoliant would always been known as the Gloomweaver.

Tears of Nienna: Nienna was the healing angelic spirit of the Valar. Her tears had the power to heal and so she wept for the trees of the Valar after they were poisoned by Ungoliant's venom, yet to no avail. This brought forth the great sorrow the elves carried with them into Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Dagor Bragollach: the Battle of Sudden Flame. After the darkening of the two trees and the stealing of the Silmarils a band of Noldorian elves lead by Galadriel and Feanor returned to Middle Earth to exact their vengence upon Morgoth. Although outnumbered they drove the orcs back to Angband. Afterwards a long peace ensued. It was soon broken as Morgoth regained his power and unleashed a series of assaults upon the elvin lands of Middle Earth. The most horrendous of these battles was Dagor Bragollach which means the battle of sudden flame, for in this attack Morgoth unleased a horde demonic spirits led by Balrogs borne upon dragons and they devoured all that was before them in fire. This battle and the appearance of Morgoth's chief general, Sauron, would awaken and later set into motion the events leading to the First Alliance of Elves and Men against Sauron in which the one ring was cut from the finger of the second Dark Lord of Middle Earth.
